WebJan 1, 2014 · Durso and Latner (2008) developed the Weight Bias Internalization Scale (WBIS) to measure the degree to which people apply weight-based stereotypes to themselves and base their self-evaluations on weight. Webprior research (Durso and Latner, 2008), and represents a conservative criterion for the clas-sification of individuals with overweight. Participants began the study by completing a demographics questionnaire that included items assessing height and weight from which BMI was calculated, along with an item assessing self-identified weight status.
